Love Poems

APRIL 7, 2023 RACHEL HUTCHESON

Can a girl write love poems

or is that supposed to be left to men?

Can she say her heart fills

with the sweet whisper of lilacs

when she hears his name?

Can she tell the world that his touch

is sweeter than the thought of heaven?

Can she say if heaven were offered,

she would deny it in exchange for his kiss?

Would you find her too forward

or brash for writing about him?

Tough shit.
